I am always grateful that i live in a country where it is so easy to look good. everywhere you turn in Kenya, you can never lack to find beautiful clothes, whether cheap or dear. most Kenyans though, go for second hand, and i run in that category. they are easy to find, cheap and with a good search, it is not hard to find even designer pieces. just the other day, a friend of mine bought an Alexander McQueen scarf for fifty shillings, how nuts is that?! but it doesn't come as a surprise, it is Kenya!the capital of all second hand clothes.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S

I have heard the saying that you are the average of the five people you hang out with countless times, and as a result i have developed this habit of scrutinizing any potential could-be-friends people. I have abandoned old friendships because I find it hard to hang around people who we don't see eye to eye with. needless to say, i am one of those people who have very few friends because i'm also an introvert but I have friends in my life who i could totally take a bullet for. this friendships add meaning to my life, they are all about laughter, fun and most importantly, truth.

cheers to such people

FEMINISM

There couldn't be a higher calling for me than being a feminist. I feel strongly about gender inequality and what not. I am currently reading reading Small Changes-Marge Piercy. It is the best book i have read all year. It has awakened all these feelings about wanting to change the lives of the women around me, to enlighten them, and myself, as much as possibleon this very sour topic-gender inequality.
It was written in the 70s, the feminism era and that is not to discourage anybody because the themes captured in this book are timeless and it is so well written, one does not even notice, except for the yellow papers.

It is about two women, from two completely different backgrounds, and the changes they make in their lives, mainly concerning interpersonal relationships. Needless to say, it has had a great impact on how i feel about issues such as gender, relationships and even work & school. and that is important. I could buy this book for every woman if i could, it is an absolute must read.

Nairobi traffic:(

I used to think that with the construction of the Thika Super highway, this would be less of a headache but I was so wrong! I live outside Nairobi but because of my internship, I have had to move to the city, yay! I am supposed to get there by 9, but I usually arrive there thirty minutes late! and while I thought matters couldn't get worse, today the traffic was so bad, the cars were literally not moving. in most Nairobi estates, there are matatus (public vehicles) going to b/s and others going to Commercial/Odeon, and I usually get on the bus station ones but today, we had to come off the bus at Ngara because past that, the traffic jam was solid thick, it was even hard to penetrate on foot. but luckily for us, or the nairobians (because I will have to move back to the place where life is calmer, mashinani) the government has unveiled new plans to deal with this crazy Nairobi traffic! maybe after that I will come back :)
meanwhile, adios!

Military Trends

I have adored military green since the day I discovered my passion for clothes. It is a classic trend that came back big some time last year on the runways and I only wished that I had purchased more of those combat outfits.
there is just something about the army inspired colour that makes you feel like you can conquer the world. well that is obvious, because there is nothing that says strong better than military power, and when this is infused with fashion, well it's to die for.

 from coats to gladiator glasses, this colour is timeless yet exquisite! so camo y'all, let's go green, military green!<-(see what i did there?)

Start of Something New

Hi everyone! Finally I’m doing it! I have been planning to blog for the longest time but I kept freaking out, I dunno about what. I was kind of hoping my first post would be about something more, well, weighty? But things did not go according to plan but I decided to start it anyway because a journey of a thousand miles has to start somewhere and even though one toe gets broken, you have to go on and by the time the toe heals you’ll have made some significant progress, but I digress, my 2015 has been so disappointing that at some point I got fed up but then again, I remembered that focusing on the negatives doesn’t do anybody any good and I do not want to miss the beckoning beacon of hope so here I am.

My sister is moving away and even though it sucks royally, it gave me ideas for this blog, kind of opened my mind. So it will be like I am writing to her hence the name which my very dearest friend, Carole Mugo helped come up with, she is truly awesome and the genius between us:D
let the fun begin!
